Turnberry Isle

Some rounds do not produce a story. They produce three photographs on the eighteenth green and a very good afternoon, and that turns out to be enough.

A short one

Not every round has a story, and that is fine

We are going to be honest, because that is supposed to be the point of this whole thing: we do not remember much about this round. We remember it was warm. We remember there is water on nearly every hole and palms everywhere and the low white resort buildings sitting across the lake behind eighteen.

What we have is three pictures taken on the last green, in that good late Florida light, in which we are hugging, then kissing, then doing an extremely stupid pose that we will not be explaining.

That's most rounds, honestly. You don't remember the golf. You remember that it was warm and you were with the right person and somebody took a picture at the end. If every review on this site were dramatic, you should stop believing us.

Eighteenth green, Aventura. In order: civilised, affectionate, and whatever the third one is.
The verdict
4 stars

Good resort golf in a part of Florida with a lot of it. Water in play constantly, immaculate conditioning, and a genuinely lovely closing stretch back toward the clubhouse.

Four stars for the course, five for the light at five o'clock in December.
